Description

Stoke-on-Trent born goalkeeper Elijah Round began his football career with Mexborough West End in 1902 before joining Second Division Barnsley in May 1904, making his Football League debut against Chesterfield Town in March 1905. Initially an understudy to Bob Hewitson and Tommy Thorpe, he shared the goalkeeping duties with Tommy Thorpe from September 1906 to March 1908 when he joined Oldham Athletic after 44 appearances for Barnsley. However he only made 10 appearances for The Latics and moved to Manchester United in May 1909, where he spent a season as understudy to Harry Moger, playing twice for The Red Devils before returning to non league football with Worksop Town in 1910, subsequently joining Mexborough Town in 1911 and Castleford Town in 1913 before retirement.
