Fleetwood, Lancashire born full back Jack Scott started his professional career with Scottish League club Albion Rovers in 1896 and was on the books at Sunderland during 1897-98, without making their first eleven. He moved to Second Division Blackpool in 1898 and made his Football League debut at Glossop that September. Although a full back he deputised as a forward in his first season for the club, during which he was an ever present. In 1907 he was described as “a dashing player, kicks well and tackles fearlessly. An untiring worker and very speedy.”
Indeed he became something of a stalwart for Blackpool in a period of perennial struggle for the club, he was an ever present or near ever present in eight of his ten seasons at Bloomfield Road, becoming club captain, during which he often also assumed penalty taking duties, scoring 17 goals in 334 appearances for The Seasiders, before he joined non league Rossendale United in 1909 with whom he finished his career.
