Action from the 1901 FA Cup Final (or the replay) played at The Crystal Palace (or Burnden Park, Bolton) on 20th (or 27th) April 1901. The crowd configuration has the appearance of The Crystal Palace.
The first match ended a 2-2 draw and Tottenham Hotspur won the replay by 3 goals to 1, so becoming the only team from outside The Football League (they were in the Southern League at the time) to win the FA Cup.
The action shows a Tottenham Hotspur corner, and although most of the players are not easily identifiable, one who is unmistakeable is the portly frame of Sheffield United goalkeeper William “Fatty” Foulke.
Note the interesting pitch markings with old style half figure of 8 six yard box.
