Blackburn, Lancashire born right back Jack Walsh began his football career with Darwen in 1924, from where he moved to Third Division (South) Aberdare Athletic in the summer of 1925, making his Football League debut against Brentford the same September. In December 1926 he was signed by Bristol City, playing 21 times in the run in as they won the Third Division (South) Championship at the end of the season. He was then a regular in the Second Division for The Robins for the next five seasons until they suffered relegation in 1932, by when he had been sold to Second Division Millwall in March 1932 after one goal in 167 appearances.
He was an ever present in his first full season at The Den, and missed only four games as they suffered relegation in 1933-34, staying a further two seasons in South East London before retiring in 1936 after 149 appearances for The Lions.
