In the summer of 1904 he joined newly formed Hull City, playing in their single season before their election to the Football League, when they mainly played friendly fixtures.
He joined Southern League West Ham United in the summer of 1905, making his debut for The Irons against Luton Town that September, scoring twice in 14 appearances before re-joining Manchester United in March 1906.
