Inverurie, Aberdeenshire born goalkeeper George Wilson played for Inverurie Thistle in 1924 and had a trial for Aberdeen in November 1924. He then played for Inverurie Locos before joining Scottish League amateur club Queen’s Park in September 1927, making his Scottish League debut in a 2-1 defeat at Clyde in March 1928. He made 6 appearances for The Spiders between March and November 1928 before joining Kilmarnock in August 1929, choosing to retain his amateur status as he did throughout his club career.
After two seasons at Rugby Park he moved to Partick Thistle in May 1931, and spent two and a half years with Thistle before joining Airdrieonians on Boxing Day 1933. He was described at the time as “powerfully built, Wilson is particularly good with the ball in the air and when in possession, few forwards are strong enough to upset his balance.” He was released by Airdrie in April 1935, and retired from senior football.
