Tottenham, London born outside left Walter Bellamy played for amateur London area sides West Norwood in 1921, Ilford in 1923, Tufnell Park in 1924 and Dulwich Hamlet in 1926, and featured for The Amateurs against The Professionals in the FA Charity Shield at White Hart Lane in October 1925 when The Amateurs scored a shock 6-1 victory, and was first selected for England Amateurs in a 6-4 win over Ireland at London Road, Maidstone in October 1925.
He played again in the FA Charity Shield for The Amateurs as they again thumped The Professionals 6-3 at Maine Road, Manchester in October 1926 and won his second and final England Amateur cap in a 3-0 win over Ireland at Cliftonville Gardens, Belfast the next month before joining First Division club Tottenham Hotspur in 1927, making his Football League debut against Liverpool at Anfield in December 1927.
He played at Spurs for nine seasons, most of his appearances and all but one of his goals coming in Second Division matches, but he never made more than 17 appearances in any single season (1930-31) and made double figures in only three of those, between 1929-30 and 1931-32. In total he scored 10 goals in 73 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur before he moved to Brighton & Hove Albion in 1935 where he went on to feature in a further 3 Third Division (South) matches in September 1935 before his playing retirement in 1936.
