Wallsend, Northumberland born left back Harry Featherstone began his football career with Wallsend Park Villa in 1908 and joined Scottish League club St Mirren in May 1909, spending two seasons at Love Street where he scored 6 goals in 37 appearances. He joined Southern League Cardiff City in April 1911 and spent three seasons with The Bluebirds before joining North Eastern League club Ashington in 1914.
After the First World War he had a spell in Irish League football, joining Belfast United in 1920, before returning to Ashington in November 1920 ahead of their joining the new Football League Third Division (North) for the 1921-22 season, and he was in Ashington’s inaugural League team that beat Grimsby Town that August. He scored two penalties in 35 games during the maiden campaign, scoring once in 36 games in their second, in a 4-2 win over Hartlepools United in September 1922, before joining Halifax Town in August 1923. After 2 goals in 20 appearances for The Shaymen, he returned to north east non league football, playing for Victoria Garesfield in 1924 and finishing his career with Stanley United, whom he joined in 1926, already well over 40 years old.
