Description

High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire born left half George Harris began his football career with hometown Isthmian League club Wycombe Wanderers in 1920 from where he was signed by Second Division Notts County in March 1923, making his Football League debut the same month, his only appearance as Notts County won the Second Division Championship. He made a single appearance for The Magpies the following season in the First Division, in a 0-0 draw with Preston North End in January 1924, before joining Third Division (South) club Queen’s Park Rangers in the 1924 close season.

Harris was a regular in his first season at Loftus Road making 29 appearances during the campaign but as Rangers struggled in the League he fell out of favour and was dropped in February 1926 following three successive defeats, joining Fulham in the summer of 1926 after 43 appearances for QPR. A fringe player at Craven Cottage, he scored his only career goal in his final League appearance, a 3-2 defeat at Clapton Orient in November 1927, and after only 8 matches for The Cottagers he joined non league Margate in 1928, later playing for Watford Wednesday in 1930 before his eventual retirement.
