Prescot, Lancashire born left back Tom Rogers started his career at Rossendale United before joining First Division Liverpool in April 1907, making his Football League debut in a meaningless last-day-of-the-season encounter with Sheffield United at Anfield towards the end of the same month. Having played a dozen games the following season. Rogers started as first choice in the 1908-09 season, but was seriously injured against Nottingham Forest on 1st October 1908 and was out of action for 11 months.
Once he returned he had a run of 14 League matches mid way through the 1909-10 season in place of Robert Crawford as Liverpool recovered after a disastrous 1908-09 campaign, finishing runners up in the League Championship. The left back was said to be “very wild at times” in his play and liable to mistakes. He featured in two consecutive fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City towards the end of January 1911 which proved to be his last as a Liverpool player, and after 40 appearances he retired from the professional game.
