Description

Denford, Northamptonshire born outside left Rupert Sandilands was an amateur footballer who attended and played for Westminster School from 1885 to 1887, and played football for the Old Westminsters, The Casuals and The Corinthians, for the latter between 1889 and 1897. He also represented The London and Kent Football Associations in representative matches.

He was first selected for England in their unofficial victory over the Canadian Americans at the Kennington Oval in December 1891 but was forced to withdraw, and made his full England debut, scoring in a 2-0 win over Wales at The Racecourse Ground, Wrexham, in March 1892. Between then and March 1896 he won 4 further England caps, scoring twice more, in a 6-1 win over Ireland at Handsworth in February 1893, and in a 1-1 draw against Wales at The Recreation Ground, West Kensington in March 1895. In three of the five seasons in which he played an international, England won the British Home Championship.
