Eastwood, Nottinghamshire born left back Jack Brown began his football career with Kirkby Colliery in 1924 before joining First Division Leicester City, making his Football League debut against Aston Villa in October 1925, making 4 appearances during his debut season. Despite a run of matches during 1926-27, when he played 18 times, he returned to the fringes in 1927-28 as Leicester finished third in the League Championship, before breaking into The Foxes’ first team the following season as Leicester finished runners up in the League Championship, in what was until 2016 the club’s highest ever League finish, Brown making 32 appearances during the campaign.
Brown had two more seasons at Leicester but lost his place in January 1931 and transferred to Wrexham in the 1931 close season after 117 appearances for Leicester City. He missed only 4 matches during his first season at The Racecourse Ground and was an ever present in 1932-33 as Wrexham finished runners up in the Third Division (North), but he lost his place in The Dragons’ first team in September 1933 (possibly through injury) and joined non league Nuneaton Town in 1934, later playing for Heanor Town in 1936 before his eventual retirement.
NB in the photograph he is shown with team mates Jack Beby, Norman Watson and Hugh Adcock.
