Centre forward Thomas Parry, most likely born at Trefonen, near Oswestry, played for Oswestry Town during the late 19th century and early 20th century, and helped them to win The Welsh Cup in 1901 when they beat Druids 1-0 at The Racecourse Ground, Wrexham. He was first capped for Wales in February 1900 when he scored in a 5-2 defeat to Scotland at Pittodrie, Aberdeen. He also scored in his next international later the same month as Wales beat Ireland 2-0 at The Oval, Llandudno. He played a total of 7 internationals for Wales, scoring 3 goals, through to his final international, a 0-0 draw with England at The Racecourse Ground in March 1902.
His brother Maurice was also a footballer, primarily playing for Liverpool and winning the League Championship twice with The Reds, also winning 14 caps for Wales, and the brothers represented Wales together on four occasions. Thomas’ nephew, Frank Parry, was also a professional footballer and made over 100 appearances in the Football League, playing for Everton, Grimsby Town, Accrington Stanley and Nelson in the 1920’s.
