Northwich, Cheshire born centre half Harry Lowe started his football career with Northwich Victoria from where he joined Southern League club Brighton & Hove Albion in 1913. He scored once in 2 appearances for The Seagulls before he moved to First Division club Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 1914 making his Football League debut at Middlesbrough in February 1915 and making only one further appearance before peacetime football was suspended due to the onset of the First World War in May 1915.
After the conflict he resumed at White Hart Lane but remained a fringe player for another eight seasons, being understudy at centre half to the likes of Arthur Grimsdell. His best return of matches being 23 in 1923-24 which exceeded the combined game tally during seven of his ten peacetime seasons with Spurs. He played 12 matches during 1921-22 as Tottenham finished runners up in the League Championship. By the time he moved to Fulham in the close season of 1927, he had made 72 appearances for the club, and he saw little more action with Fulham, his season at Craven Cottage saw only 3 more League appearances before he joined London League club Beckenham Town in 1928 before his eventual retirement.
He later managed Spanish side Real Sociedad between 1930 and 1935, and was also manager of Espanyol in 1935. He played one match for Real Sociedad at the age of 48 in his final season at the club, which remains a record for the oldest player to play a match in the Spanish top division.
