Description
Brechin, Forfarshire born centre forward George McGee is somewhat of a mystery, in that he never made the first eleven at either of his known senior clubs. He spent 1921-22 at Middlesbrough as understudy to international forwards Andy Wilson and George Elliott and was reportedly “very successful” as a regular goalscorer for the reserves before moving south to join Portsmouth in June 1922, where he spent at least a season without getting an opportunity in Pompey’s first eleven.
