Erith, Kent born outside right Harold Lee began his football career with Erith Albion, and played for Erith Town in 1902, Cray Wanderers in 1903 and Sittingbourne in 1904, from where he was signed by First Division club Arsenal in September 1905. Lee had to wait to make his Football League debut which came against Bristol City in September 1907, and after a run of early 7 early season matches which included a brace in a 2-1 win over Liverpool at The Manor Ground in October, he regained his place in February and played most of Arsenal’s remaining matches.
The following season he was tried at centre forward and inside right, and again held his place for much of the first half of the campaign before losing his place in November. He returned for 4 matches in April 1909 and scored 5 goals, all the matches being won as The Gunners finished sixth in the League Championship. After starting 1909-10 at centre forward, he was signed by First Division rivals Bury in October 1909 having scored 15 goals in 41 appearances for Arsenal. At Bury he quickly reverted to the outside right role, but lost his place in September 1911 and only featured in 7 further matches for The Shakers in what proved to be their relegation season, and he left Bury in the summer of 1912 having scored 4 goals in 51 appearances, joining Kent League club Dartford, his final recorded club.
