Bow, East London born inside right Dick Goffin played junior football for Eton Mission in 1905 and Peel Institute in 1906 before joining Second Division club Clapton Orient, for whom he made his Football League debut at West Bromwich Albion in September 1907. He scored 8 goals in his debut season but spent two seasons as a fringe player playing only occasionally before making 25 appearances in 1910-11.
However after four seasons at Millfields Road in which he scored 13 goals in 66 appearances for Orient, he joined Southern League club New Brompton (now Gillingham) in the summer of 1911, playing with them until the onset of the First World War forced the suspension of peacetime football in May 1915, scoring 13 goals in 80 appearances. After the War he had a spell with non league Uxbridge Town joining them in 1919 before his retirement from football.
