Port Glasgow born centre half or right half Jimmy Walker began his senior football career with hometown Scottish League club Port Glasgow Athletic from where he was signed by Third Division (South) club Luton Town in 1921, making his Football League debut at Millwall that April. A regular from the start of the next season, initially playing mainly at centre half, he scored twice while filling in at centre forward in a 3-0 win over Northampton Town in the last match of their season as they finished fourth in the division.
He was a regular in The Hatters’ line up for three more seasons, increasingly appearing at right half from September 1923, but he lost his place in September 1925 and played only once more for Luton Town, having scored 4 goals in 138 appearances, his career after leaving Kenilworth Road is uncertain.
