Neath, Glamorgan born outside right Idris Miles began his football career with Radnor Road, from where he joined Second Division club Cardiff City, making his Football League debut against Nottingham Forest in October 1930, making 3 appearances before the end of the season as The Bluebirds suffered relegation. Miles was released and joined non league Yeovil & Petters United in the summer of 1931, where he scored seven goals during his spell with the side, and he was spotted by First Division club Leicester City who signed him in 1932, Miles scoring on his debut in a 2-2 draw with Everton that October, going on to make a further 6 appearances for The Foxes through to December.
He suffered two successive broken collarbones and spent a further season and a half either injures or in the reserves at Filbert Street without getting back into Leicester’s first eleven, before a transfer to Third Division (South) club Clapton Orient in March 1935, and he was a regular for The O’s during the remainder of the season and over the following two seasons, scoring 6 goals in 81 appearances. In the summer of 1937 he signed for Exeter City, making 11 appearances in the late summer and autumn of 1937, but the move didn’t work out and he soon re-joined Yeovil & Petters United before the year end. He finally joined Birmingham & District League club Worcester City in 1938, before his career was finished by the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939.
