Description

Linktown, Kirkcaldy, Fife born right back Bill Inglis played junior football for Inverkeithing United in 1912 and Kirkcaldy United in 1913 before joining Scottish League club Raith Rovers in 1914. He remained with The Rovers for the next decade, and was part of their 1921-22 team that finished third in the Scottish Championship behind The Old Firm, until in the summer of 1924 when he was signed by Second Division Sheffield Wednesday.

He made his Football League debut at Derby County that September and played 31 games during his single season at Hillsborough before joining Manchester United in the 1925 close season, where he was a fringe player, scoring once, the only goal of the match coming from the penalty spot to beat Cardiff City at Old Trafford in April 1926, in 14 appearances over the next five seasons. He then finished his career with two seasons at Northampton Town, joining them in the 1930 close season, playing 67 times for The Cobblers.

After retiring from playing, he returned to Manchester United as an assistant trainer, staying at Old Trafford for 27 years from 1934 before retiring in 1961.
