Buxton, Derbyshire born right back Ted Worrall began his football career with Buxton Comrades in 1908 before joining Sheffield Wednesday in March 1909, waiting until January 1911 to make his Football League debut against Preston North End in a First Division match. He soon established himself in the Wednesday team making 116 appearances up to the suspension of peacetime football due to the First World War, during which he guested for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur and served in the Pay Corps in Mesopotamia.
On the resumption he joined Second Division Fulham in June 1919 and played four seasons for The Cottagers, making 96 appearances, before a move to Aberdare Athletic in May 1923. After a year and a half with the Welsh club, during which he scored his first career goal, a penalty in a 4-1 win over Charlton Athletic in September 1923, he joined Watford in January 1925 after 55 appearances. But he only made 4 appearances for The Hornets before joining New Brighton in June 1925. He was ever present both seasons at New Brighton, scoring 3 times (2 penalties) in 91 appearances, and continued ever present in 1927-28 for Southport having joined them in May 1927.
He finished with Southport in the close season of 1929 after 4 goals, all penalties, in 77 appearances, and joined non league Shirebrook in July, subsequently joining Gresley Rovers in August 1930 and Ripley Town in May 1931 before his eventual retirement, whereafter he coached at Buxton College and Derbyshire Schools and scouted for Tottenham Hotspur.
He was a nephew of the great England international goalkeeper Sam Hardy.
