Description
Rossendale, Lancashire born outside left Joe Johnson began his football career with Rossendale United from where he joined Second Division club Grimsby Town in 1905, making his Football League debut at Chesterfield Town that September. He scored 3 goals in 19 matches for The Mariners but joined North Eastern League club Carlisle United at the end of the season, where he spent a single season before a move to Southern League club Millwall in 1907. In 1908 he joined Luton Ton where he spent four seasons, his final known club before his eventual retirement.
