Description
Felling, County Durham left back Joe Johnson had a brief football career which started with Felling Colliery before the First World War, but after the War’s resolution he signed for First Division club Sunderland in 1919, making his Football League debut against Preston North End in April 1920, one of three matches in which he featured before the end of the season. He played in two more fixtures the following season before a move to Wales to join Ebbw Vale in 1921, his last recorded club before his eventual retirement.
