Perhaps related to Sheffield Wednesday player Jock Malloch, also from Dundee, far less is known about the career of inside right John (possibly Jim) Malloch, who played for Dundee club West End (or Dundee Centrals) and joined Cardiff City sometime after it turned professional jn 1910. He played in their inaugural fixture in a friendly against Aston Villa on 1st September 1910, which Villa won 2-1 and in their first season in the Southern League Second Division, playing for Cardiff City until at least 1912. During the First World War he served in The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) as a private and survived the conflict. Full biography to follow.
