Description

Glasgow born right half back Billy McAllister began his football career with Maryhill after the First World War from where he joined Welsh League club Ebbw Vale in 1921. He was signed by Third Division (South) club Brighton & Hove Albion that October, making his Football League debut at Charlton Athletic the same month. McAllister missed only one match in their 1923-24 campaign before a transfer to Second Division club Middlesbrough in February 1925 after 6 goals in 95 matches for The Seagulls.

Although he played in ‘Boro’s remaining matches that campaign, he lost his regular place in their line-up by early 1926 and joined Queen’s Park Rangers in October 1926 after 35 matches for Middlesbrough. He stayed at Loftus Road until the end of the season, scoring once in 26 matches for Rangers, before a return to Scottish football with Raith Rovers in the 1927 close season, where he made 58 appearances over the next two seasons.

In May 1929 he signed for Heart of Midlothian, but he only played once for The Jambos in a 6-4 win over Hamilton Academical that November and he joined Irish League club Dolphin in 1930, spending two seasons at Dolphin before a move to Glentoran in 1932. He finally returned to Scottish football with Brechin City in 1933, his final recorded club before his retirement.
