Buckhaven, Fife born inside right Bob Noble was an amateur footballer who started his football career with Bromley in 1908, and was on the books of Aston Villa during 1910-11 without making a first team appearance. He was on the books of Southern League Queen’s Park Rangers in 1911, while also playing for Bromley, and it’s uncertain as to whether he played for QPR in their 1911-12 Southern League Championship team, but it’s likely that he did as he soon joined Second Division Leicester Fosse in the summer of 1912, making his Football League debut against Nottingham Forest that September. He played 4 matches for The Fossils in the autumn of 1912, but it’s uncertain where he was playing his football between then and the conclusion of the First World War, other than that he had joined Southern League Millwall at some stage, and is recorded as playing Wartime football for The Lions in 1917.
When Millwall were elected to The Football League in 1920, Noble made two appearances, on New Year’s Day 1921 he played a League match against Northampton Town and a week later in an FA Cup tie against Lincoln City. He then joined Isthmian League London Caledonians in 1921. It is likely that he both won the FA Amateur Cup with London Caledonians in 1923 when they beat Evesham Town 2-1 in the Final after extra time at The Crystal Palace, and also the Isthmian League Championship, which they won in 1924-25.
