Description
Armley, Leeds born wing half (who played both sides) Herbert Pickard played in the local Leeds League with one of the best teams, Upper Armley Christ Church, before signing for Second Division club Leeds City in June 1905, making his Football League debut against Stockport County in December 1906. He stayed at Elland Road until 1910 but made only very infrequent appearances for The Peacocks and was content to provide cover for the right and left half positions and filled in whenever City were in need in case of injuries. Leeds City were his only League club and though only in his mid-twenties when he left he never played professionally again, having played 8 matches through to his final match in March 1910.
