Description

The nephew of former Celtic player Hugh Watson, Annbank, Ayrshire born centre half Jimmy Price began his football career with Cumnock Juniors and was signed by Glasgow Celtic in October 1918, making his Scottish League debut two days later in a 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock. He played 8 matches for Celtic through to March 1919, and after a loan spell with Dumbarton, he joined Airdrieonians in 1921 before being signed by Third Division (North) club Nelson in January 1922, for whom he made his Football League debut against Wrexham the same month. He didn’t miss a match through to the end of the season but lost his place in August of the new season after only one match, and played only three more times for Nelson before a transfer to divisional rivals Ashington in March 1923 after 24 matches for The Admirals.

Price played for a further six seasons at Portland Park, being a near ever present in five of the six, missing only one match in their 1925-26 and 1928-29 campaigns, but when they lost their League status in the summer of 1929, Price joined North Eastern League club North Shields after 10 goals in 246 appearances for The Colliers, before rejoining Ashington, by then themselves playing in the North Eastern League, in 1930. In 1931 he moved to Wallaw United, his final club before his eventual retirement.
