Description

Blackburn, Lancashire born outside right Benjamin Procton began his football career with Lower Darwen, from where he signed for hometown First Division club Blackburn Rovers, making his debut in an FA Cup tie at Tottenham Hotspur in February 1911, his Football League debut coming at Sunderland three days later, his only two appearances that season. Proctor played once more for Rovers in a win over Bradford City in March 1912, but didn’t play again before a transfer to Second Division club Stockport County in the 1913 close season. He scored on his debut in a defeat at Birmingham that September 1913 but lost his regular place in March 1914, playing 10 further matches during 1914-15 before the onset of the First World War forced the suspension of peacetime football and effectively ended Proctor’s career, having scored 6 goals in 38 matches for Stockport County.
