Grimethorpe, Yorkshire born inside right Harry Scott began his football career with Pilkington Recreation of Doncaster before spending the spring of 1929 on the books of Doncaster Rovers without making their first eleven. He joined Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in June 1929, making his Football League debut against Exeter City in September, scoring on his debut in a 3-0 victory. He soon established himself as a regular goalscorer, with 13 goals in his first season and 16 strikes in his second season, both seasons The Cherries’ second top goalscorer behind Ronnie Eyre.

Described in 1930 as “an efficient inside man, Scott links up well with his forwards and halves. A prolific scorer who takes advantage of every opening in the opposing defence, Scott can also make openings for his centre and provide perfect passes”, Scott lost his place at the start of the next season and only returned to the first team in December 1931 but again lost his place in April 1932, probably due to injury. He transferred to Swindon Town in June 1932 after 36 goals in 86 matches for Bournemouth, but played just one season at The County Ground, scoring 5 goals in 19 matches before returning to play non league football for Pilkington Recreation in 1933.
