Centre forward David Anderson’s career isn’t well documented. What is known is that after the First World War he joined Hibernian from Newtongrange Star, making his Scottish League debut against Airdrieonians towards the end of March 1920, keeping his place and scoring once in Hibs’ final 7 matches of the campaign. The following season was a highly successful campaign for Anderson that saw him find the net 17 times in 39 appearances for Hibernian, but after 4 goals in 3 matches at the start of the 1921-22 season, he clearly suffered an injury and made only one further appearance for Hibs, in a 2-0 defeat to Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox in March 1922. After 50 matches and 22 goals for Hibernian, Anderson joined St Johnstone in the 1922 close season, his last known club.
