Boldon, Tyneside born full back Jack Hall spent 1909-10 at Preston North End without making the first eleven before returning to North East local football with Jarrow Croft, from where he joined Hull City, spending 1910-11 at Anlaby Road but once again not featuring in their first team. He signed for Second Division Barnsley in August 1911 and made his Barnsley debut against Bradford Park Avenue in February 1912, his only appearance that season for the team that would go on to win the FA Cup a couple of months later. The following season saw him make only 4 more first team appearances, and he subsequently joined First Division Manchester City. His only appearance for City came at Bradford Park Avenue in April 1915, immediately before the suspension of League football due to World War One. After the resumption of peacetime football he joined North Eastern League Darlington in 1919, and a year later joined Bristol Rovers, playing 21 games in their inaugural Football League season. His second and final season at Eastville saw him feature on only 8 more occasions, and after a season at Newport County in 1922-23 when once again he couldn’t make their first eleven, he went non league with Bristol Aeroplane Company in 1923.
