Description

Chalk, Kent born centre half Harry Russell played football for The Army in 1911 before joining Second Division Fulham in 1912, making his Football League debut against Birmingham in March 1913, soon establishing himself as a mainstay of the first team before the onset of the First World War forced the suspension of peacetime football in May 1915, interrupting his football career having made 77 appearances for The Cottagers.

During the War he served in the Armed Forces and after the resolution of the conflict he resumed at Craven Cottage in 1919, continuing to play increasingly irregularly for Fulham until September 1924 when he lost his place after 7 goals in 141 appearances. He joined Kent League club Sheppey United in 1925, and subsequently played for Northfleet club Bevan’s Works in 1926 before his retirement.
