Description

Dundee born left back David “Napper” Thomson spent his entire playing career with Dundee, for whom he played between 1913 and 1927, scoring 15 goals in 385 appearances for The Dark Blues. Nicknamed “Napper” because of his cool, collective approach, he played in the 1925 Scottish Cup Final which Dundee lost 2-1 to Celtic. He was first chosen for representative honours when awarded his is only Scottish international cap against Wales in a 1-1 draw at Ninian Park in February 1920. He also played twice for The Scottish League, in a win over The Irish League at Ibrox in January 1921 and in a defeat to The Football League at Highbury two months later. He received a benefit match agaist Aberdeen in 1926 but left the club after a dispute over wages and retired from football aged 36.

He was inducted of the Dundee Hall of Fame since 2018.
