Description

Woolwich, London born inside right Jack Warner first played football for Custom House prior to the First World War but after the War he joined First Division club Burnley and was on their books during 1919-20 without making a first team appearance. He joined Manchester City in 1920 and made his Football League debut against Preston North End in April 1921 scoring his first goal against Newcastle United two weeks later.

Although with their available strike force he was never a regular first teamer at Manchester City, he had a reputation as a clever ball player, and accumulated 15 goals from 78 appearances over six seasons at Hyde Road and Maine Road, before leaving to join Watford along with Arthur Daniels after they were relegated in May 1926.

Warner moved to right half after two years at Vicarage Road despite 23 goals in his first two seasons, and scored 25 goals in 115 appearances before subsequently joining Thames Association in July 1930 on a free transfer, playing in their two seasons of Football League membership, where he scored twice in 60 appearances before retiring in the summer of 1932.
