Bristol born wing half Jack Wren started his football career with junior club Greenbank in 1913 before joining Southern League Bristol Rovers in 1914. His Eastville career was interrupted by the First World War, and on resumption he joined Second Division neighbours Bristol City in 1919, making his Football League debut against Bury that August. He was a regular in his 3 seasons at Ashton Gate but when they were relegated in 1922 he joined Notts County after a single goal in 112 appearances. At Notts County he played 31 times in 1922-23 as County won the Second Division Championship, but he found his opportunities in the First Division more limited and when County were relegated in 1926 he joined Southport after 67 appearances for The Magpies. However his stay at Haig Avenue was a brief one, he played only 6 times in the autumn of 1926 before finishing with the professional game.
