Description

Alexandria, Dunbartonshire born full back Jack Darroch started his football career with Dumbarton in 1888 and played for Vale of Leven in 1889 and Renton in 1890. He joined Sheffield Wednesday in September 1891 and made his Football League debut at Blackburn Rovers in October 1892, although first team opportunities at The Wednesday were limited and after only 19 appearances he returned to Scotland to join Dundee in 1895. In May 1896 he returned to Football League action with Bury, and was a regular there for the next 5 seasons, the highlight being their 1900 FA Cup Final victory over Southampton by 4 goals to nil in front of 69,000 people at The Crystal Palace. Having lost his place in the Bury starting eleven in the autumn of 1901, he joined Blackburn Rovers that December after 1 goal in 157 appearances for The Shakers, playing 18 times for Rovers before returning to Scotland to re-join Dundee in 1902. He later joined Dundee Hibernian in 1909 before finishing his career.
