Larne, County Antrim born winger Bill Fallon played for Irish junior clubs Brideville in 1931 and Dolphin in 1932 before joining Second Division Notts County in February 1934. He made his Football League debut the following month at Grimsby Town and although mainly a fringe player during their 1934-35 relegation season he was soon a first team regular in the Third Division and of such consistency that he was signed in March 1938 by Sheffield Wednesday, after 22 goals in 131 appearances for The Magpies. Like so many players of his era the Second World War’s advent put an unexpected halt to his career and by the time War came he had scored 13 goals in 51 appearances for Wednesday, however unlike some he spent part of the War years playing for Irish League clubs, including Shamrock Rovers in 1939, Shelbourne in 1940 and Dundalk in 1944. After the conflict he returned to the Football League with Third Division former club Notts County in June 1946 adding 4 goals in 17 appearances to his record for them, before joining Exeter City in June 1947, for whom he scored twice in 8 appearances before ending his career with non league Peterborough United in 1948.
