Description

Low Fell, Gateshead, County Durham born right half Dickie Dale played for junior clubs Stanley United in 1919, North Walbottle in 1920 and West Hartlepool in 1921 before joining First Division Birmingham in 1922, making his Football League debut at Newcastle United in September 1922. He soon established himself as a regular starter for Birmingham through to April 1927, after when he became a fringe player making only 15 appearances in his last two seasons.

In November 1928 he transferred to West Bromwich Albion after 151 appearances for The Blues, but his spell at West Bromwich Albion was predominantly as a fringe player, making 21 appearances for The Baggies over the next two seasons and none whatsoever in 1930-31. He joined Tranmere Rovers in the 1931 close season and made 10 appearances for the Wirral club at centre half before joining non league Crook Town in 1932, his final club before his eventual retirement.
