Description

Northampton born winger Ned Freeman joined hometown Southern League club Northampton Town c.1906 and was a member of their Championship winning team in 1908-09. He played against Football League Champions Newcastle United as Northampton Town were beaten 2-0 in the 1909 FA Charity Shield. He played both sides of World War One for The Cobblers and indeed his final season was Northampton’s inaugural Football League campaign, in which he made 28 appearances, scoring twice. This included Freeman playing in Northampton’s first ever League game at Grimsby Town in August 1920.

He also played 16 first class cricket matches for Northamptonshire between 1908 and 1920.
