Description

Gorbals, Glasgow born goalkeeper James Harris began his football career with junior club Shawfield in 1925 and joined Hamilton Academical in 1926, where he made his Scottish League debut against St Mirren that August, staying a season and playing 15 matches before transferring to Dunfermline Athletic in the summer of 1927.

After two seasons with The Pars, he joined Manchester City and spent 1929-30 at Maine Road but didn’t make a first team appearance, before moving to Rotherham United, where he made his Football League debut against Barrow in September 1930, appearing 11 times for The Millers before the end of November.

Harris joined Irish League club Waterford before the year end and spent the remainder of his career in Ireland, briefly playing for Cork Bohemians in 1932 before joining Glentoran later the same year, and finally playing for Bangor from 1934 before his eventual retirement.
