Description

Glasgow born inside forward Archie Kyle started his football career with Parkhead Juniors in 1903 before joining Glasgow Rangers in 1904, making his debut in a Scottish League match at Third Lanark that August. Kyle made 110 appearances for the club and scored 52 goals during his four-season spell, during which he gained representative honours playing twice for The Scottish League, scoring on his debut in a 6-2 defeat to The Football League at Stamford Bridge in March 1906 and playing in the same fixture at Villa Park, a 2-0 defeat, in February 1908.

He left Rangers April 1908 after 52 goals in 110 appearances to move to England signing for First Division Blackburn Rovers and made his Football League debut at Bury the same month. After 8 goals in 38 appearances he joined Bradford Park Avenue in August 1909 but didn’t play for their first eleven before returning to Scotland with Bo’Ness. After a brief stint in Ireland at Linfield in 1910, Kyle returned to Scotland and played with Clyde in September 1910, joining St Mirren in the close season of 1911 and Hamilton Academical in 1913 before retirement.
