After the War he resumed with Aston Villa in 1946, playing in one of their FA Cup ties in the 1946 competition, and having two seasons as a first team regular once League football had re-started, making his last appearance in September 1948, until his retirement in 1949 by when he had scored 23 goals in 87 appearances for Aston Villa. He later managed Hednesford Town.
