Description

Armadale, West Lothian born goalkeeper Allan McClory began his football career with Westfield Paper Mill, Harthill Bluebell and Shotts United before joining Motherwell in 1924, for whom he played in goal for much of the 1920’s and 1930’s during a very successful period in ‘Well’s history, appearing in Scottish Cup Finals in 1931 and 1933, and helping the club to win their one and only Scottish League Championship in 1932.

During his time at Fir Park, he first was called up to represent The Scottish League in October 1926 when he played in a 5-2 victory over The Irish League at Tynecastle. He also won a further Scottish League cap a year later in the same fixture at Windsor Park, Belfast, in a match that finished 2-1 to The Scots. He went on to win 3 caps for Scotland. His first cap was awarded in a 3-0 win over Wales at Ibrox in October 1926. His second cap arrived in a 1-0 defeat to Ireland at Firhill in February 1928, and his third and final Scotland cap came 6 years later in a 3-2 victory over Wales at Pittodrie in November 1934.

He later played for Albion Rovers, Montrose, and League of Ireland club Brideville playing until the age of 47 before retirement.
