Description

Belfast born wing half Victor Aiken began his career in his native Northern Ireland with Glentoran, before joining English First Division club Brentford in a £1,000 deal in the summer of 1937. He failed to force centre half Joe James from his position and spent much of his two seasons with The Bees in the reserve team. Aiken eventually made his Football League debut in a 1-1 draw at Sunderland in January 1939 playing at right half and made two further League appearances for Brentford before the season end, at both left and right half. Aiken left the club in 1939 to return to Northern Ireland signing for Dundalk, and after the Second World War he played in England for non league clubs Ramsgate Athletic in 1946, Dover in 1947 and Betteshanger Colliery Welfare in 1948 before his eventual retirement.
