Sabathu, Himachal Pradesh, India born inside forward Jack “Snowy” Armand played in an Army International against France in Belgium before joining West Stanley in August 1922, from where he was signed by Second Division Leeds United along with his team-mate Albert Bell in December 1922, making his Football League debut against Manchester United in January 1923. Unlucky as he was to be at Leeds at the same time as the likes of Percy Whipp, Jack Swan, Joe Richmond, Tom Jennings and Russell Wainscoat, and Charlie Keetley, he found difficulty getting regular football at Elland Road and appeared 20 times in 1926-27, as Leeds were relegated from the First Division, his only season in seven when he reached that mark, making more than 10 appearances in only two other seasons.
After 24 goals in 79 appearances, and although he never commanded a regular place in the Leeds first eleven, he was still worth £500 when he was transferred to Swansea Town in May 1929, and he had two seasons at The Vetch Field scoring 10 goals in 55 appearances for The Swans before joining non league Ashton National (now Hyde United) in the 1931 close season, where he scored 48 goals. Having joined them in August 1932 he was briefly on the books at Southport but returned to League action with Newport County, signing for them the same month, scoring once in 4 appearances before returning to non league action first with Midland League club Scarborough in 1933, subsequently playing for Denaby United in 1935 before his eventual retirement.
