Description

Hackney, London born outside left Bill Berry played for Royal Naval Depot (Chatham) before joining Charlton Athletic in 1923, for whom he made his Football League debut at Millwall that September, playing 11 times and scoring twice before joining Gillingham in February 1924. He scored 11 goals in 87 games in two and a half seasons at Priestfield, moving to Brentford in May 1926. He scored 19 goals in 1930-31 as The Bees finished third narrowly missing out on promotion, and he netted 41 goals in 148 games before a move to Crystal Palace in November 1932. He scored 4 goals in 17 games for Palace before joining Bournemouth in 1933 where he scored twice in 14 games before, as did many professionals at the time, going to play French League football in 1934, where he played for Fives, his last known club.
