Description
Tredegar born centre half George Bishop spent 1925-26 with Rochdale without making their first team and joined Merthyr Town in the close season, making his Football League debut against Millwall in September 1926. He had 3 seasons at Merthyr scoring 3 times in 113 appearances before a move to Gillingham in August 1929. At Gillingham he played 98 times over the next 3 seasons, never scoring, before Southampton signed him in August 1932, however he never made their first eleven and returned to Welsh football with Ebbw Vale in 1933.
