He was an occasional player over 4 seasons at Vale, making only 12 appearances, before a spell back in non league football with Fegg Hayes in 1907, Aberdare Town in 1908 and Stoke, by now demoted from the Football League, before he returned to League action signing for First Division Oldham Athletic in December 1911.

In two seasons at Oldham he scored twice in 8 appearances before joining Midland League Scunthorpe & Lindsey United in 1913, for whom he played until the advent of the First World War forced peacetime football’s suspension, during which he served in the Armed Forces. After the War he once again joined Oldham Athletic in May 1919, scoring 3 goals in 69 further appearances for The Latics before joining Rochdale in May 1922. He played 13 times for ‘Dale before joining non league Burton Town in 1923, subsequently playing for Burton All Saints  in 1924 and Bass Brewery in 1925 before retiring.
