Southampton, Hampshire born left back Bob Brown began his career at his local club non-League Thorneycrofts in 1918 before joining Tottenham Hotspur the following year, making his Football League debut against Barnsley in December 1919, soon establishing himself as the left back of choice as Tottenham won the Second Division Championship with Brown playing 20 games. However he only made 3 appearances the following season including their FA Charity Shield defeat to West Bromwich Albion and he was not a member of the Spurs team that won the FA Cup Final in 1921.
His appearances were sporadic over the next two years, and he had made 45 appearances in all competitions for the White Hart Lane club by the time he played his last match against West Ham United in April 1924. Brown ended his football career at Southern League club Aldershot whom he joined in 1927.
